(1808-1836)
Born in North Carolina, Smith left his family to head for Texas. His family never heard from him again.
Going to Bexar and the Alamo, Smith was made a sergeant in Capt. Forsyth’s company, arriving in Bexar about the second of February 1836.
On March 3, 1837, Jesse Bartlett, the administrator of Smith's estate, received the balance of Smith’s pay, which amounted to $14.92.
Susannah said of Smith: ’...a man of about five feet some inches height, spare made, dark eyes and complexion and appeared to be between 25 and 35 years of age’.
